BRIEF
Using the diptych form present certain concept or idea. The main thing is that you present it using the object and the subject and that each of the photographs has its own individual concept. Juxtaposition of these two photographs should depict overall concept. Create the visual interplay on photographs, dig deeper to get better more extensive concepts. Visual unification plays a big role.

Presenting the concepts in the diptych form has its own challenges, especially if we have to combine the object and the subject on the individual photographs. To come to this concept, it took a lot of research and moodboarding. The main intention for me is to communicate something deeper, to accomplish the visual interplay that was requested and to create the visual impact on the viewer. The whole series was inspired from one photo reference I found on pinterest. Immediately seeing that photograph I figured how visually people can read it, which is introverts – people present in the public but still turned towards themselves. When I set my general concept to be introverts and defined the direction of the photograph with the subject, I was looking for the object. Immediately I came up with the idea of the fork and to play out with the shadows.

To present the concept again of the introverts I turned my fork towards the wall and projected its shadow so it seems like it is looking again towards it’s self. The individual concepts would be – Appearing and Disappearing. Why? On the portrait photograph person is disappearing – looking towards the audience with its body but head is turned backwards and the object is appearing to the public but turned towards its own shadow.
