Take one of the classical books and redesign the cover for it. Any of the approaches you decide to go for are approved. The main idea behind the project is to design the book cover that will truly resemble the story. Go with something that best suits your style and think about creating the book cover who’s design can lead to series of book covers. Focus on visual communication and arrangement of the important information.

Crime & Punishment is one of my favorite books and that’s why I decided to redesign her book cover. I first divided the book on the most important parts that it’s famous for and though how to include that on the book. I wanted to design the cover that would communicate with the reader and would be appealing to be seen on the shelves. Since, the most important part of a book is a murder that Raskolnikov commits at the beginning of the book and at the end he was punished for it, I decided to create my own simple symbol for this book. On the one side of the simple is an ax, the murder weapon and on the other side is judge hammer which presents the punishment. I combined two colors, black and white, because they are contrasting and also red as a color of blood. Overall design is kept simple and very classic, because the novel itself is classic written by Dostoyevsky. On the flops, I’ve put information about the novel and the writer. I reused the symbol on the book binding. So, overall this design of book cover fits the story and mood of the novel.
