research – little prince
When I first started reading the Little Prince book for the second time I was fascinated how many details and description does it have. How whole world around Little Prince is developed. I decided to focus on as many detail possible regarding him to be able to create good character illustration which would be present on the book cover. There were many illustrations done on this topic, so it was not hard to get inspired with, but I wanted to present him fully how I saw him while reading the book. started creating the mood boards and sketches what I would like my character to look like. Throughout the book main characteristic that stick to my mind as most dominant of the Little Prince is the kindness and softness.
process
I decided to create the calming looking little guy, with blue hair and pinkish cheeks. I added wooden sword to his outfit to show his playful but still a serious side. After this I moved on experimenting with the character different poses and alignments regarding the cover. Once I finalised my character and was satisfied with all little details, I created the possible sketches for the book cover design regarding the posing of Little Prince and combine it with typography.
